Research

The main areas that my work combines are Geometry and Global Analysis, Control, Dynamics and Topology (mainly Differential).

My main research project is in the area of Controlled Dynamics. This means that, while I come from a Control Theory and Geometry background, my main interest is in developing a dynamical systems perspective for controlled dynamics, with the aim of studying global controlled dynamics. This perspective was expounded on in series of seminars at Berkeley and Santa Barbara, and is also a book in preparation (Global Controlled Dynamics).

My research interests are also in Dynamical Systems Theory, mainly in Global Bifurcation theory and Topological and Geometric approaches, such as Singularity Theory, Morse theory and theories of topological index (Conley and Morse indices).

I have also worked in the areas of Mathematical Biology (traveling waves, reaction-diffusion equations) and in Stochastic Differential Equations (large deviation theory, through an optimal control approach).
